January hat-trick for Fast-Track listed care home developer-January 2009
LNT Construction has followed up its rise in the Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 table with the purchase of three development sites which will deliver more than 175 new care home places.
The three sites are situated in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire; Romiley, Greater Manchester; and Moston, Greater Manchester. These developments take the number of care homes currently being built by LNT Construction to 15. When completed, the homes under construction will add a further 940 beds to the 1,500 delivered by the company over the last eighteen months.
Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire A 40 bed L-shaped residential care home is to be built on the site of the former Hempstalls Inn. The development, supported by local residents, will help meet rising demand in the area due to the ageing population and the closure of a number of local facilities.
Romiley, Greater Manchester A 78 bed home on the site of Barrack Hill Primary School will be developed. The home will provide a mix of residential and dementia care services to address an under-supply of appropriate beds in the Stockport area.
Moston, Greater Manchester A 60 bed home is planned on the site of the former local-authority run Nuthurst Aged Persons Home. The home is designed for the elderly mentally infirm, to meet the rising demand for dementia services in the area.
All homes are designed, constructed and fitted-out to the highest specifications with each room benefitting from en-suite shower rooms, LCD televisions, fridge freezers and internet access. Indeed a recent LNT Construction development at Cookridge in West Yorkshire has been shortlisted for a prestigious healthcare design award.
Andrew Long, LNT Construction Development Director commented, ''At a time when others may be reducing their activity, we are committed to drive forward our build programme. We are also pushing the boundaries of design to develop homes that exceed both client and resident expectations."
